I don't review cameras. I just pick them up, and I try them. I am not into features or specifications. I just want simple good cameras. Manual and metered exposure. Manual and autofocus. I don't need them to be blazingly fast. I need to fall in love with their usages. Speaking of falling, I don't usually fall to the hype, and I don't buy new models, except Fuji's. Fuji, you can take all my money, at any time. But this is not case.
The Rollei 35 got my attention a long time ago. A really small 35mm cameras that you can really put in your pocket. It was perfect except for the focus: it is not a rangefinder, so the viewer is not connected to the actual focus. It's not a problem for a street photography camera or for a holiday camera, but most of my photography are portraits. I needed either confirmation focus or AF, as most of compact cameras have. And then Mint announced the Rollei 35AF. I will write a longer review, as I had the opportunity to compare the new AF vs the classic 35S, but long story short: I bought it.
I loaded a Ultramax 400, thanks to Miyagi, and went out to test it with Irene.
Remember that I said that compact cameras are fun? They are indeed.
As said, I do plan to write a full review. I will share that on my socials, so it will go in Spanish (sorry fam). There are plenty of review of this camera in English, we Spaniards deserve some content for us O:)
